About Us

Our Mission
The Online Activism Institute provides web-based training and resources to empower women leaders in the Middle East and North Africa. By using the Internet to bridge gaps in physical distance, the Institute offers women who champion democratic values unique opportunities to learn from activism experts around the world, equipping them with tools and inspiration to achieve change in their communities. In 2009, PoliticsOnline recognized the Online Activism Institute as one of the year's "Top 10 Who Are Changing the World of Internet and Politics."

What We Do

With the help of experienced instructors, the Online Activism Institute's e-learning  platform offers these features:

Who We AreThe Online Activism Institute is a partnership of NGOs, web-development, and academic partners in the Middle East and United States, who work together to provide state-of the-art training and resources through an e-learning platform.  We currently have a local presence in Cairo and Amman and are eager to add local training partners in other locations in the Middle East and North Africa in the future.

We also invite organizations that provide training and education in the areas of civic participation, human rights, governance and women's rights to join us as educational partners and provide online courses through our platform.

The Online Activism Institute was founded by the Center for Liberty in the Middle East in 2009, with funding from the U.S. Department of State's Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). It is currently sponsored and operated by the American Islamic Congress.
