Amy Ekdawi

Former Mentor - Grassroots Advocacy

Amy Ekdawi is a former Grassroots Advocacy mentor for the Online Activism Institute. She is the co-director of People’s Advocacy, an organization that specializes in community organizing.  As a trainer and program designer, Amy has worked with civil society organizations in Egypt and the United States.  She is also a board member in many organizations including the United States-Egypt Friendship Society (USEF) and the Alliance of Egyptian Americans (AEA).

Amy's passion for making the world a better place led her to work in the field of community development more than 20 years ago in her home country of Egypt.

Amy has two Master's degrees: one in International Policy and Practice with a focus on democratization processes in the Middle East from the Elliott School for International Affairs, George Washington University, Washington D.C., and another in French-Arabic Simultaneous Interpretation from Ain Shams University, Cairo.  She also has an advanced diploma in Social Development from St. Francis Xavier University, NS, Canada.
